Our TMS Treatments

Capote treatment platform is based on a unique breakthrough technology called Deep TMS, which can reach significant depth and breadth of the brain and produce broad stimulation and functional modulation of targeted brain areas.

Deep TMS treatment employs unique, patented coils that are integrated into a helmet, which is securely fastened to the patient’s head during the procedure. Capotet therapy has been employed in more than 60 clinical trials across the globe. In the United States, the company’s device obtained FDA approval for treating Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in 2013, received FDA clearance (De-Novo) for addressing Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in 2018, gained FDA clearance as a supportive tool for short-term Smoking Cessation in 2020, and has recently been granted an expanded indication for Anxious Depression.

A Platform for Mental Health Treatment

Deep TMS harnesses electromagnetic fields to safely and efficiently modulate the neural activity within specific brain regions associated with the targeted mental health or neurological issue. As the therapy advances, the associated symptoms gradually diminish in frequency and severity, enabling patients to enjoy an improved quality of life.

In the course of a Deep TMS session, a padded helmet housing the patented H-Coil technology of the treatment is positioned on the patient’s head. The helmet is carefully adjusted to ensure precise targeting of the specific brain regions of interest before activating the device. Once activated, the device emits electromagnetic fields that effectively modulate the activity of these relevant brain structures, covering broader areas of the brain compared to earlier traditional TMS devices. This capability helps Deep TMS overcome the targeting challenges that can occasionally arise during conventional TMS sessions. Moreover, Deep TMS can directly influence structures located in deeper and less accessible regions of the brain, thereby enhancing the overall effectiveness of the treatment.

Being a non-invasive medical device treatment, Deep TMS typically results in minimal and transient side effects in most cases. The most frequently encountered side effect is a temporary, localized headache at the treatment site, which usually subsides on its own after the initial few treatment sessions. Over-the-counter headache medications can also be used to alleviate this short-lived effect. Less commonly reported side effects encompass muscle twitches and jaw discomfort. A small percentage of patients may experience sensations on the scalp or facial twitches, but these, too, tend to diminish after the initial sessions and can further improve with adjustments to the helmet’s positioning and stimulation settings on the device.

It’s important to note that Deep TMS doesn’t entail the considerably more severe side effects often associated with other forms of medical treatments for mental health disorders. For example, antidepressant medications can lead to side effects such as nausea, weight gain, reduced sexual desire, and sexual dysfunction. In contrast, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) may result in short-term memory loss.

Due to its multiple advantages, Deep TMS can likely benefit a number of different populations:

Deep TMS has been FDA-cleared in the US due to its ability to safely and effectively treat:

  • Depression
  • OCD
  • Smoking Addiction
  • Anxious Depression

It has also been CE-marked in Europe to safely treat these and a number of other conditions, namely:

  • Alzheimer’s Disease (AD)
  • Autism
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Chronic Pain
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Post-stroke rehabilitation
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • The negative symptoms of Schizophrenia

Patients who do not respond well to conventional treatments can find Deep TMS to be a beneficial alternative. A multicenter study published in World Psychiatry in 2015 revealed that one in three individuals with treatment-resistant depression achieved remission after a four-week acute phase of Deep TMS treatment. Furthermore, 80% of patients who initially did not respond to the treatment showed improvement during the continuation phase. In real-life scenarios, Deep TMS had an even more significant impact. A study involving over 1000 participants treated for depression found that approximately 75% experienced a positive clinical response to Deep TMS, and one in two achieved remission.

Patients seeking non-invasive, clinically proven mental health treatments can also benefit from Deep TMS. Its non-invasive nature helps it avoid the potential side effects associated with invasive treatments.

Deep TMS utilizes its patented H-Coil technology, eliminating the need for anesthesia and minimizing recovery time. Consequently, patients can easily incorporate Deep TMS sessions into their daily routines, and they can drive themselves home from the treatment center afterward.

Additionally, Deep TMS can complement existing treatments, providing an extra boost in effectiveness. Patients already on medication can incorporate Deep TMS into their treatment regimen, often experiencing an enhanced overall impact on their targeted condition.
